Inclusion at Macaulay

Macaulay CE Primary School is an inclusive school, meeting the needs of all children. This includes those with specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, emotional and behavioural difficulties, and those for whom English is an Additional Language (EAL). Our goal is to ensure that every pupil has full access to a broad, balanced, rich, and relevant curriculum, enabling them to reach their full potential.

Creative and individualised care is put in place for those who have special, and often challenging, needs. The inclusion manager goes out of their way to resource funding and expertise that make positive differences and improve life chances for vulnerable pupils.

Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND)

We believe that all pupils, regardless of their specific needs, should receive quality inclusive teaching. This approach helps them make the best possible progress and feel valued within the wider school community.

At Macaulay, we offer a range of support for children with:

  • Communication and interaction difficulties
  • Cognition and learning challenges
  • Social, mental, and health issues
  • Sensory and physical needs

We collaborate effectively with other services to meet every pupil's needs, including resources from local authorities and professional support agencies.

The school accurately identifies pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Staff adapt teaching effectively so that pupils with SEND learn the same curriculum as their peers.
